Childrenswear Fashion Trends and Forecast S/S 2027
Forecasts for the Spring/Summer 2027 season confirm several signals already present in previous seasons: a focus on sensory and playful aspects, palettes built around neutral bases with saturated accents, comfortable shapes and sustainable materials.
The season brings joy back to the centre of the creative process and encourages designers to conceive garments that tell stories, stimulate the senses and accompany children in their everyday explorations.
The aim is to create pieces that children want to wear and that parents appreciate; where aesthetics, safe materials and comfort coexist.
Overall, within the textile sector there is an ongoing effort to apply technological innovations to fabrics with a traditional appearance. As a result, we see modern, high-performance fabrics with specific functions – breathable, odour-resistant, UV-protective, cooling, even fragranced – which, visually and to the touch, do not appear overly technical or futuristic.
The childrenswear industry, while benefiting from technological innovation, prioritises comfort and safety above all. Parents are increasingly informed and mindful in their choices, seeking sustainable and traceable fabrics. Beyond using certified materials, it is also essential, in order to build trust and awareness, to communicate their origin and value through labels, packaging and content that speaks about the story behind each garment.
As already observed in the Autumn/Winter 26–27 season, the search for tactile experience continues through clothing itself, starting precisely with fabrics featuring different weights, consistencies and textures: lightweight linen, voile for flowing dresses, organic cotton for soft T-shirts, terry cloth for beach sets, micro-mesh for more sporty pieces.
From a garment design perspective, we see relaxed silhouettes, dungarees, oversized T-shirts, pleated dresses and lightweight, comfortable jackets.
In childrenswear, colour can always be bold. Now that colour has returned to energise adult collections, children’s palettes are even more vibrant and joyful, as if to emphasise the vitality of childhood. At the same time, softer palettes are also present: neutrals enhanced with terracotta and sage green for themes connected to the natural environment, or pastel palettes for romantic and fairy-tale inspirations.
Fabric prints move between nostalgia and imagination:
- oversized florals: graphic as if pencil-drawn, shaded with a watercolour effect, tone-on-tone or boldly colourful; XXL flowers are a must-have;
- checks combined with fruit prints;
- reinterpreted paisley motifs;
- vintage geometric patterns;
- nautical themes and gingham checks.
These can be paired with placement graphics that help define the theme more clearly, almost as if telling a small story.
Beyond the visual experience, prints can also enhance the tactile one: in addition to featuring textured effects themselves, they can be enriched with elements such as sequins, beads, appliqués, embroidery and raised details.
